Fifty Key Words In Theology. By F. G. Healey. Fifty Key Words In Philosophy. By Keith Ward. 50 Key Words: Sociology. Edited by David Martin. 50 Key Words: The Church. By William Stewart. Richmond: John Knox Press, 1967–1970. 84 pp. each. Paper, $1.65 each.
This series of compact reference books provides a brief treatment of theologically significant or religiously related topics for the general reader. Each volume includes an index of words not treated in separate articles, thus increasing the value of these handbooks. The volumes on philosophy and sociology provide a helpful introduction to their subjects, but the usefulness of those on theology and the church is weakened by the liberal and ecumenical viewpoint.
