Scholars are frequently reminded that judgments and conclusions are subject to re-evaluation. This issue confronts our readers with several stimulating considerations. As you interact, perhaps your response will find fruition in further contributions.

Men and their writings of days past may need appraisal in the light of new insights. Sometimes conclusions, as may be the case regarding Tertullian, are based on limited evidence and repeated without further investigation.

Old Testament literature has been subjected to extensive study, especially during the last two centuries. Numerous theories have been suggested and often projected as conclusive. The article oh wisdom literature provides an exemplary consideration of what may be the case with other areas of Old Testament literature. A number of scholars candidly acknowledge that Old Testament studies are in a state of flux. Theories once well accepted are today considered as untenable. Numerous other areas that deserve further study are suggested in the article offered in this issue.

The need of additional studies in the use of language and biblical interpretation is another provocative field of closely related studies awaiting advance. Constructive effort in this area may be very rewarding.

Come our annual meeting during the last days of December, may our efforts in sharing our respective findings prove fruitful. We are anticipating a large attendance and a provocative exchange of scholarly insight.
