The Unique Relationship between the Father
and the Son in the Gospel of John

In the last issue of PRJ, we printed an article by Bartel Elshout, “The Father’s Love for His Son.” This article provides the scriptural support for that article as drawn from the Gospel of John. The passages regarding this special relationship between the Father and the Son are listed in the order in which they occur in the Gospel of John.

  3. It pleases the Father when men believe on His Son
  4. The Father has given the elect to His Son
  5. The Father draws sinners to His Son
  6. Only the Son has truly seen the Father — and knows Him fully
  7. The Son lives by the Father
  8. The Son communicates the Word of His Father to His people — and to the world
  9. Children of the Father love the Son
  10. The Son honors the Father
  11. The Father honors the Son
  12. The Father and the Son know each other mutually and exhaustively
  13. The Father has sanctified the Son — set Him apart for a special purpose
  14. The Father and the Son mutually indwell each other
  15. The Father always hears the Son
  16. The Father is glorified in the Son
