You Mean the Bible Teaches That…. By Charles Caldwell Ryrie. Chicago: Moody Press, 1974. 127 pp. Paper, $1.95.

This is a most practical and helpful little book. True to his usual style, the author is clear and precise in the presentation. Ten pertinent questions being asked today are discussed—the question of civil obedience, capital punishment, women’s lib, divorce, race, situation ethics, suicide, abortion, demon activity, evolution.

The most important Scriptures bearing on the answers to these questions are discussed. What the author considers to be the biblical teaching with regard to the questions is presented with firmness but in Christian love toward those who differ with his interpretation.

Every Bible believer will profit from the reading of this book. Busy pastors will find it a helpful guide, too.

Evidences of the Authenticity, Inspiration and Canonical Authority of the Holy Scriptures. By Archibald Alexander. New York: Arno Press, 1972. 311 pp.

This book is a reprint from a copy in the Wesleyan University Library. The twenty-three chapters are devoted to the study of evidences for the inspiration and canonicity of the Bible. The work does not deal, of course, with some of the contemporary issues in bibliology since it was written originally in 1836. Nevertheless, the student will find here a wealth of most helpful material. He will find his faith strengthened in the full inspiralion and authority of God’s Word.
