Dr. Hoehner served on the faculty for over forty years. He was chairman of the New Testament Studies department for twenty-four years and director of the Ph.D. Studies program for twenty- seven years. He held the rank of distinguished professor since 2000. Also Dr. Hoehner served on the editorial staff of Bibliotheca Sacra between 1969 and 1974. He was highly respected and deeply loved and appreciated by his students and fellow faculty members.

Dr. Hoehner wrote three books and contributed numerous articles to Bible encyclopedias and many essays for multiple-author books. He also wrote seven Bibliotheca Sacra articles: a six-part series on the “Chronological Aspects of the Life of Christ” (October— December 1973 through January—March 1975), and “The Duration of the Egyptian Bondage” (October—December 1969). Over the years he ministered overseas on four continents in twenty-five countries.

He is survived by his wife, Gini, and his four grown children, Stephen, Susan, David, and Deborah.
