Proclaimers Of The Word: Faculty Responses To Questions About Central

What Do You Consider The Most Important Emphasis At Central?

I consider the most important emphasis of Central to be her combining of classroom efforts toward producing proclaimers of the Word. The great need of today’s world is not to be met by additional education, whether scientific, philosophic or social. Nor is the need of today’s churches for counselors, public relations experts and administrative technicians. Including the provision of an adequate background in consecrated scholarship, the aim of a God-ordered theological school ought to be the producing of men who can with fidelity and clarity deliver the eternal message. This, I believe, is Central’s calling, and the commission to which she has addressed herself. Producing proclaimers of the Word is Central’s most important emphasis.

What Major Emphases Are Recognized Bt Those Who Know Central?

In performing its major task of preparing preachers and soulwinners, Central has earned a reputation for certain emphases that are specially stressed in connection with the training here. (1) From the beginning there has been a strong emphasis on separation, both of the individual and also in religious connections, stressing that the believer is in the world but not of the world, and warning of the dangers of inclusivism, that is, working together with unbelievers. (2) There has been a strong stress on soul winning in season and out of season, at home and abroad. Some have testified that they received a greater challenge for soul winning here than they had in college. (3) Central also has been a clearly Baptist school with Scriptural emphasis on the local church. Just as products in the grocery store are labelled, so Central has kept this label prominent. (4) Students have also recognized a strong emphasis on the Word and the sole authority of this revelation in the curriculum and classroom. Graduate studies deal seriously with the sacred text. (5) A last emphasis among so many is a clear dispensational stand in a day when many are confused by covenant theology.

What Is The Frame Of Reference Of Central?

As far as we know, the central Seminary is the only-seminary in the world that has spelled out its position and stand (Ephesians 6) on the most crucial ten issues facing Christendom today, These ten points that we list were sent to and accepted by the first student body, the first Trustees, and the first faculty, and have been printed in every Seminary Catalogue since the beginning:
