Rev. Floyd Hamilton

Rev. Floyd Hamilton was born on April 3, 1890, and as an infant, was dedicated by his mother to the Lord for missionary service. He attended Cornell University, Presbyterian College of Wooster (Phi Beta Kappa), and received his Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary. Upon his marriage, he and his wife went as missionaries to Korea in January, 1920, where they served several terms. While there, he taught at the Union Christian College, Pyeng Yang, and the Korea Theological Seminary. In 1955 he became pastor of a Southern Presbyterian Church in Centreville, Alabama, where he served for five years. He later served as pastor for the Williams Memorial Church, Westminster Church, Community Church of East Swanzey, Annasquam, and Hamilton. In 1966, he became a research consultant for the Christian Research Institute. Rev. Hamilton has written for several periodicals, and edited the Daily Manna. His books Basis of Christian Faith, Basis of Evolutionary Faith, Basis of Millenial Faith, Commentary on Romans, Commentary on Galatians, Commentary on Genesis, and Reformed Faith in the Modern World.

As an Apologist, he followed in the footsteps of Machen and Warfield. He was greatly concerned with presenting Jesus Christ to everyone he met, and was known for his defense of the Bible as “The Word of God Written.”

Floyd Hamilton died in an automobile accident on September 2, 1969. He is survived by his wife, and by five children all of whom are now active in the Christian ministry. He is also, survived by 20 grandchildren, all of whom are currently preparing for the Christian ministry.
