On January 17th, Psa 16:7–9 became more precious than ever for those of us who live and minister in the Southern California area.

I will bless the LORD who has counseled me; indeed, my mind instructs me in the night. I have set the LORD continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will dwell securely.

Thank you for praying with us during those tumultuous times. We experienced no significant damage at Grace Community Church, which provides the facilities for The Master’s Seminary. We rejoice that there was no loss of life. Though some of our students had to relocate their residence and several of our faculty suffered significant losses to the contents of their homes, the Lord has been good in allowing us to resume classes with only one week lost due to the initial disruptions from the 6.7 earthquake of 1994. Watching thirty-five hundred people come just to touch their pastor overwhelmed us all. Not only did John receive a love gift from the church, but also an original copy of the first systematic theology published in America. You would know it as The Complete Body of Divinity by Samuel Willard published at Boston in 1726.

In March, over 400 pastors from as far away as England, Ireland, New Zealand, Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine attended the annual Shepherds’ Conference hosted by Grace Community Church. Classes took a break for that week so our students could participate in all of the sessions. As usual, the TMS faculty taught many of the workshops, and many TMS graduates attended. All enjoyed a great time of fellowship.

The Master’s Seminary will be hosting the Far-West Regional of the Evangelical Theological Society in April. We are looking forward to

having one hundred to one hundred and fifty members and students in attendance when our President delivers the keynote address for the meetings.

Three of our faculty will soon be re...
